First import the base to which all the other components will attach The first component inserted will always be fixed and will not move To connect 2 parts/components we use the ‘Mate’ feature We have to select the faces/surfaces/points that we want to mate Then we select the type of mate we want, Solidworks does this automatically but in certain cases we need to choose a different one After mating is done we must check whether the parts are properly constrained and whether there is no unwanted motion between them You can delete any view by selecting it and pressing delete on the keyboard To create a section view place the cutting line and then select the direction You might want to exclude certain parts from being hatched like shafts and ribs Hidden lines can be added as well as removed easily Add centrelines and centre marks to the drawing Input all the dimenions required to completely define the assembly For tricky dimensions manually select the type of dimensioning required To insert a BOM first select it and then select any view of the assembly To change any entry just double click on the cell FIN
