How to replace a front shock strut on FIAT BRAVO 2 (198) [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]

Wheel chock 1. Clean the fasteners of the shock strut upper mount.
Use a wire brush.
Use WD-40 spray. 2. Remove the rubber strip. 3. Loosen the upper fastener of the shock strut mount.
Use a combination spanner #19. 4. Raise the front of the car and secure on supports. 5. Unscrew the wheel bolts.
Use wheel impact socket #17. AUTODOC recommends:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts. 6. Disconnect the wiring and the brake hose from the bracket on the shock strut.
Use a crowbar. 7. Clean the fasteners connecting the stabiliser link to the shock strut, and those connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle.
Use a wire brush.Use WD-40 spray. 8. Unscrew the nut and remove the stabilizer rod from the shock strut.
Use a combination spanner #17.
Use a ratchet wrench. 9. Prop up the steering knuckle.
Use a hydraulic transmission jack. 10. Unscrew the lower fastener connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #15.
Use a drive socket #17.
Use a tap wrench. 11. Remove the fastening bolts. 12. Disconnect the steering knuckle from the shock absorber strut. 13. Unscrew the top fastening of the shock strut mount.
Use a drive socket #19.
Use a ratchet wrench. AUTODOC recommends:
To avoid injuries, hold the shock strut when undoing the fastening bolts. 14. Remove the suspension strut. 15. Set the shock absorber strut on the spring compressor tool. AUTODOC recommends:
Note that when using a spring compressor, spring coils need to be securely gripped, compressing the spring on the opposite sides. Ensure the correct position of the spring in the retainer.
Make sure that the spring coils tightly entered the lock handles. 16. Compress the spring. 17. Treat the shock strut rod.
Use a wire brush.
Use WD-40 spray. 18. Remove the strut piston rod nut.
Use a combination spanner #19.
Use HEX No.H6.
Use a ratchet wrench. 19. Remove the top strut mount. 20. Release the coil spring. 21. Remove the spring. 22. Remove the shock absorber dust cap and the bump stop. 23. Remove the old shock absorber from the hydraulic coil spring compressor. AUTODOC recommends:
Τhoroughly examine the shock absorber mount, dust boot, bump stop. Replace them if necessary.
Before installing a new shock absorber you should pump it manually 3-5 times. 24. Install the new shock absorber on the hydraulic coil spring compressor. 25. Use HEX No.H6. Use a torque wrench.
Tighten it to 60 Nm torque. AUTODOC recommends:
Check to make sure the spring is positioned correctly. Avoid its misalignment. 30. Decompress the spring. 31. Remove the assembled shock strut. 32. Install the shock strut into the wheel arch. 33. Screw the top fastening of the shock strut mount
Do not tighten it. AUTODOC recommends:
To avoid injuries, hold the shock strut when screwing the fastening bolts in. 34. Treat the shock strut mounting seat on the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush.
Use WD-40 spray. 35. Fix the shock absorber strut on the steering knuckle. 36. Raise the hydraulic transmission jack by 10-15 cm. 37. Install the fastening bolts. 38. Tighten the lower fasteners connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle.
Use a drive socket #15. Use a drive socket #17.
Use a combination spanner #15.
Use a torque wrench.
Tighten it to 80 Nm torque. 39. Treat all joints of the stabiliser link.
Use WD-40 spray. 40. Ιnstall the transverse stabilizer link. 41. Tighten the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the shock strut.
Use a combination spanner #17. Use a torque wrench.
Tighten it to 55 Nm torque. 42. Remove the support from under the steering knuckle. AUTODOC recommends:
Lower the hydraulic transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging assemblies and mechanisms. 43. Clean the fastener of the bracket that connects the brake hose to the shock strut. Use a wire brush.
Use WD-40 spray. 44. Unscrew the brake hose fastening bracket from the shock strut.
Use a drive socket #10.
Use a ratchet wrench. 45. Remove the bracket from the shock absorber strut. 46. Install the bracket onto the shock absorber strut. 47. Tighten the brake hose fastening bracket to the shock strut. Use a drive socket #10.
Use a ratchet wrench. 48. Clean the wheel rim mounting seat.
Use a wire brush.
Treat the contacting surface.
Use copper grease. 49. Connect the fastener of the ABS sensor cable to the shock absorber strut.
Fasten the brake hose on the strut. 50. Screw in the wheel bolts.
Use wheel impact socket #17. AUTODOC recommends:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when screwing in the fastening bolts. 51. Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use a torque wrench.
Tighten it to 120 Nm torque. 52. Tighten the upper fastener of the shock absorber strut mount. Use a drive socket #19.
Use a torque wrench.
Tighten it to 51 Nm torque. 53. Install the rubber strip. 54. Treat the fasteners of the shock strut mount.
Use copper grease.
