How to replace rear shock absorber on FIAT BRAVO 2 (198) [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]


1. Remove the mount cap from the shock absorber upper fastener. Required tools:
Wire brush
WD-40 spray
Copper grease Combination spanner #17
Drive socket # 19
Wheel impact socket #17
Torque wrench Tap wrench
Locking pliers
Hydraulic transmission jack
Wheel chock 2. Loosen the upper fastener of the shock absorber.
Use a combination spanner #17.
Use locking pliers. 3. Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports. 4. Unscrew the wheel bolts.
Use wheel impact socket #17. AUTODOC recommends:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts. 5. Support the rear suspension beam.
Use a hydraulic transmission jack. 6. Clean the shock absorber fasteners.
Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. 7. Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber.
Use a drive socket #19. Use a tap wrench. 8. Unscrew the upper fastener of the shock absorber. 9. Remove the fastening bolt.
Use a drive socket #19. 10. Remove the shock absorber. 11. Remove the shock absorber dust cap and the bump stop. AUTODOC recommends:
Examine the shock absorber dust cap and the bump stop. Replace them if necessary.
Before installing a new shock absorber you should pump it manually 3-5 times. 12. Install the dust sleeve and the bump stop on the new shock absorber 13. Place the shock absorber in the wheel arch and fasten it. 14. Install the fastening bolt. 15. Screw in the lower fastener of the shock absorber.
Use a drive socket #19. 16. Raise the hydraulic transmission jack by 10-15 cm. 17. Tighten the lower fastener of the shock absorber.
Use a drive socket #19. Use a torque wrench.
Tighten it to 85 Nm torque. 18. Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam. AUTODOC recommends:
Lower the hydraulic transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging assemblies and mechanisms. 19. Screw in the wheel bolts.
Use wheel impact socket #17. AUTODOC recommends:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when screwing in the fastening bolts. 20. Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use a torque wrench.
Tighten it to 110 Nm torque. 21. Tighten the top shock absorber fastening.
Use a combination spanner #17. Use locking pliers. Use a torque wrench.
Tighten it to 60 Nm torque. 22. Treat the shock absorber fasteners.
Use copper grease. 23. Install the mount cap on the shock absorber upper fastener.
