PASCO Super Pulley with Clamp


The PASCO super pulley with table clamp is designed to be used wherever an intergral clamp and pulley is needed. The pulley has a total diameter a 5.1
centimeters, a groove circumference of 15 centimeters, a
mass of five grams, an approximate rotational inertia 1.86×10^-6 kilogram meter
squared. Mounting the pulley to any compatible surfaces easy. Simply, slide the clamp onto the surface
and tighten the thumb screw to hold it in place. The height of the pulley can be adjusted in the
clamp by loosening the two thumbscrews on either side of the clamp. If greater height adjustment is needed,
the pulley can be moved to one of two mounting positions in the clamp.
To change positions, remove the two thumbscrews on either
side the clamp and adjust. Once the pulley is in the desired position,
replace the thumbscrews and tighten to hold the pulley in place. Common
configurations the super pulley with clamp include
mounting the pulley to the end of the track for dynamics investigations, mounting the pulley to the bottom of a
rotary motion sensor for rotational inertia investigations, removing the pulley from the clamp and
mounting the pulley to a threaded rod for Atwood’s machine investigations, and using the pulley with PASCO photogates to measure angular and linear position, velocity, and acceleration. An important
note about using the super pulley with table clamp, to simplify most investigations the
position of the pulley should be adjusted so that the string running over
the pulley is parallel to the surface which the
string is coming from. In the case of the cart and track, the position at the pulley should be
adjusted such that the string is parallel to the surface of the track.
