Replacing and Leveling Wheels on Your Clarke American Sander | City Floor Supply

Hi, Joe Glavin with City Floor Supply. Today we’re going to replace and level the lateral wheels on an American 12 sander. Removing the lateral wheels onto the American 12 sander is a pretty straightforward repair. Undo the nut on the lateral wheel shaft and pull the shaft out. Remove the shaft from the old wheel and place it on the new wheel. Remember to replace the spacer on the wheel shaft between the wheel and the wheel carriage. Tighten down the nut on the wheel shaft and be sure the wheel still spins freely. Replace the wheel side cover on both sides and now we’ll check for level. To level the wheels, use a flat surface. In this case, we’re using a laminated board. Lie the laminated board on the lateral wheels and the rear wheel while still keeping the surface touching the drum. To make your adjustments, look down from the rear wheel past the lateral wheels to where the laminated board is touching the surface of the drum. When the laminated board is touching the entire surface of the 12 inch drum, your machine is leveled.
