Sitting Weight Bearing Elbow Flexion and Extension – Post-stroke Exercise

(upbeat music) – This is a great exercise to perform to strengthen the muscles of your shoulder and elbow. This is a necessary exercise to perform when you’re getting out of bed or getting up off the floor. You can perform this exercise either on the floor, like I am, or on the edge of your bed. To perform this exercise you’re going to come down onto your elbow
on the affected arm. Your palm is gonna be flat on the ground and from here what you’ll do is you’ll make sure that your shoulder blade is down and back and then straighten your elbow, putting all your weight through your hand. Repeat this exercise 15 to 20 times or until the muscles of
your arm become fatigued. Another important note with this exercise is to make sure that your shoulder is stable and well healed from the stroke. (upbeat music)
